Our Mission and Purpose

Our Mission and Purpose is to... reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ and help each one to grow in Him through Loving God and Loving Others, Connecting with God and Connecting with Others, Growing in God's Word, and Serving God by reaching people in our community and the world with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our History

In 1977, it was the vision of several people at Elmwood Baptist Church of Abilene to establish a new church in the southwest part of the city. Property was purchased at 4857 Buffalo Gap Rd. The church met in temporary buildings and began construction on a permanent building in 1978. The first services were held in the new church building on July 1, 1979. After a few months, His Kids Day Care Center opened as a ministry of Ridgemont and was in operation until the late 80's.

In July 10, 1999, the building caught fire and burned. Although the loss of the building was sad to those at Ridgemont, God had a greater vision in mind. On July 25, 1999, Ridgemont began holding Sunday morning services at Wylie United Methodist Church while Sunday and Wednesday evening services were held in our portable building.

January 23, 2000, Ridgemont broke ground on the new building. God had now given the church His vision and the members worked diligently to fulfill His plans. On May 1, 2001, Ridgemont was granted occupancy of the new worship center.

God has truly blessed RBC and we look forward to continued growth as we seek His perfect will.
